Project Overview
Sought to design an intuitive, Excel-based cost analysis tool to enhance discussions between key account managers (KAMs), clinic managers, and prescribing decision-makers. This tool was intended to enable detailed price comparisons and underscore potential cost savings between the clients offerings and those of their primary competitor. It was designed for use by KAMs within the sales team to support strategic decision-making.
Calculations were based on predefined mathematical formulas to automatically populate revenue fields and produce a succinct PDF report, typically spanning 1 or 2 pages, which included key messaging alongside the presented data.
The Challenges
• Balancing simplicity with complexity: Designing an Excel-based tool that was intuitive and user-friendly, yet capable of handling complex pricing structures and variables.
• Accuracy and reliability: Ensuring that all automated calculations based on predefined formulas were precise, especially since the tool was used to inform strategic discussions with high-level stakeholders.
• Clear, concise reporting: Creating a succinct 1–2 page PDF report that effectively presented key data while remaining easy to understand.
• Visual and messaging clarity: Integrating key messaging into the data presentation without cluttering or overwhelming the user.
• Compliance and branding constraints: Designing the output within brand guidelines and any relevant compliance requirements, particularly given the healthcare context.
• Collaboration and usability: Making the tool accessible and practical for KAMs with varying levels of Excel proficiency across different sales teams.
Our solution
• Designed an intuitive, Excel-based cost analysis tool to support strategic discussions between key account managers (KAMs), clinic managers, and prescribing decision-makers.
• Enabled detailed price comparisons to highlight potential cost savings between the client’s offerings and those of their main competitor.
• Tailored specifically for use by KAMs within the sales team to guide informed, data-driven decision-making.
• Integrated predefined mathematical formulas to automate key revenue calculations and minimize manual input.
• Generated concise, professional PDF reports (typically 1–2 pages) summarizing key financial data and messaging.
• Ensured reports were visually clear and on-brand, making complex pricing information easier to communicate effectively in client meetings.
