Project Overview
Health inequity: Variations in Breast Cancer Diagnosis Across Age Groups and Deprivation Levels Within ICBs
At LVC, we have developed the Breast Cancer Dashboard to support NHS professionals in evaluating health equity in breast cancer care. This interactive tool utilises publicly available data to present breast cancer case numbers and incidence rates, categorised by cancer stage, age group, and deprivation, at the Integrated Care Board (ICB) level. The insights derived from this dashboard can inform the development of policies and practices aimed at promoting equitable health outcomes.
The challenges
• Significant variation in breast cancer diagnosis rates across age groups and deprivation levels.
• Difficulty accessing and interpreting granular data at the ICB level to assess health equity.
• Limited tools for NHS professionals to identify and address disparities in cancer staging and incidence.
• Need for data-driven insights to inform equitable healthcare policy and practice.
Our solution
To address health inequities in breast cancer diagnosis, LVC developed the Breast Cancer Dashboard a completed, interactive tool designed to support NHS professionals in evaluating equity in care. The dashboard utilised publicly available data to present case numbers and incidence rates, broken down by cancer stage, age group, and deprivation at the Integrated Care Board (ICB) level. These insights enabled more informed decision-making and supported the development of targeted policies and practices aimed at promoting equitable health outcomes.
